Reading Fairgrounds 1973 Opener

Reading Fairgrounds Speedway Opening Day March 1973

It was a chilly Sunday in March. An attempt had been made the
previous week, but a persistant drizzle had forced the speedway
to postpone. This week, however modified racing would resume
at the historic Reading Fairgrounds Speedway.

A stellar field of RSCA modifieds was in attendance, along with many invaders from New Jersey and New York.

Lindy and the crew were still grooming the 1/2 mile clay oval, so we crossed over
to the infield to get some close up shots during hot laps

Hot laps are over so we'll cross back over to our box seat in the front of the huge covered grandstand for the racing action.
In spite of the cold winds and even snow flurries the stands are packed,and the only places left for the latecomers is the infield
and the paved standing area in front of the grandstand.
